Jumpstart

Canadian Tire Jumpstart

Raising funds. Lifting spirits. Supporting dreams.

Jumpstart is more than just about getting kids active. It’s about giving kids from families in financial need the same chance to participate as their neighbours, their classmates and their friends. Whether it’s the chance to try a new sport or to continue with a favourite one, no kid should be left out.
The vision of Jumpstart is simple: Canada, where all kids have a chance to fulfill their dreams. Jumpstart is a national charity with a commitment to local communities. Organized sports connect kids to their communities. Canadian Tire Corporation recognized this and makes sure that money raised stays where it is donated. Canadian Tire Corporation is Jumpstart’s biggest supporter as it funds all the general administrative expenses of Jumpstart, which means 100% of customer donations go directly to help kids in need.
Community Partners, like Motivate Canada, Boys and Girls Clubs, Canadian Paralympic Committee and numerous others work with local Jumpstart Chapters to identify the kids whose families need Jumpstart’s funding assistance to get them off the sidelines and into the game. What kids do is up to them; we’re here to help them do it.

Enriching Oakville, One Grant At A Time

The Oakville Community Foundation grants provide broadly-based support to the needs of our community--from relief and care for people living in poverty, facing health challenges, through enhancing recreational opportunities, culture and the arts, and protecting our natural environment.
We are fortunate to have excellent, front-line charitable organizations in Oakville, providing critical services to our community.  Since we began in 1994, The Foundation has issued more than $18 million in grants to our community.
As a granting organization, our role is to:
·         Tackle tough problems and work to find made-in-Oakville solutions;
·         Sustain important projects and the organizations that provide them.
We do this by:
·         Informing donors about needs and opportunities for their involvement  and use resources like our Vital Signs reports for insights on the bigger issues;
·         Assessing the projects and programs underway in Oakville, and granting support to those that are best able to meet the needs;
·         Thoughtfully reviewing grant applications, ensuring wise investments of donor dollars.

Trillium

To lead change that matters in communities, we have identified six Action Areas

And for each area, a set of Priority Outcomes are backed by leading research and practice in the nonprofit sector. Every grant we make is an investment in only those activities that will achieve one of these priorities. Every grant recipient makes a commitment to achieve specific results with the support of our knowledgeable and experienced staff.

We have different granting programs, to meet different needs.

For over 30 years, our core business has been to invest in community-based initiatives that help build healthy and vibrant communities throughout Ontario. Every year, more than 3,000 applications are received, and over $110 million in grants is awarded to some 1,300 public benefit sector organizations.
